Why We Do It

StoneGround ColdBrew is a passion project that started when I fell in love with local business working for a small coffee shop in a small town. I found ways to be creative everyday and eventually found myself wanting to share it with the community on new level. I knew whatever I did had to be unique, defined, and impactful. This naturally led me to explore the methods of brewing cold brew. Though my experimentation took daring turns left and right, I found my niche and ultimately found how I would stand out from others and take pride in an exciting and creative venture.

All of my coffee beans are locally sourced and I found inspiration in making blends that were inspired by moments in time, vibes to a steady beat and a need for perfection to my own satisfaction. Still, something lacked in it’s essence through its method of creation of which I quickly redefined, leading to an incredible and motivating end result. I chose to hand pulverize the beans in a stone mortar and pestle, resulting in a powderless grind and a unique texture that felt course to the touch. I further defined the uniqueness of the method by using only glass to brew the cold brew to prevent flavor and oil leaching found in the process of using plastic. This was accompanied by a sustainability factor that would greatly improve it’s environmental impact. Feedback on the blend made with this method was galvanizingly positive, and the eagerness to share this new project extended to its name: StoneGround ColdBrew. I had my first opportunity to share it at the first annual Pine Barren Makers Fest. Two weeks of extremely hard work paid off with 17 hand made gallons gone in two 6 hour days. This I now know spoke to brew a path before me, a passion to pursue and a love for a community to share it with. Still, I look to always innovate, grow and inspire believing that happiness is found many places and coffee can be served by anyone, but passion is hand crafted, glass brewed and made just for you.
